Reachstackers
A reach stacker is one of the most flexible handling solutions weather to operate a small terminal or a medium sized port. Reach stackers have gained ground in container handling in most markets because of their flexibility and higher stacking and storage capacity when compared to lift trucks. Using reach stackers container blocks can be kept 4-deep due to the second row access. Aisles between container blocks can also be kept narrower than with lift trucks, thus improving space utilization.

The reachstacker has greatly improved the efficiency and the range of container handling. The Reachstacker is able to work containers in second and third row. This comes in very handy when the container handler is used to stack containers directly onboard a ship. Compared to a mast truck, the reachstacker is superior in every field, especially vision and handling.
A more efficient way to handle containers…
Reachstackers can lift and carry all types of intermodal units and are quite flexible in their movements within the individual terminal as well as between terminals. They need an operational area of roughly 15 m width to move around between trains, lorries and storage positions. Time needed to handle a single container unit is quite short (1 to 1.5 minutes).

Reach stackers are vehicles with rubber tires, fitted with a diesel engine and an operator's cabin, similar to a retracted mobile crane. They can transport and stack containers. Reach stackers are fitted with a container spreader fixedly connected to the telescopic arm, i.e. the spreader raising movement is only carried out via the telescopic arm. The operator's cabin is arranged fixedly or movably connected on the frame in the rear part on the vehicle, which always permits a good view for the operator of the container spreader fixedly connected to the telescopic arm.
